Dilemma! Immediate assistance required!

(I have a birthday celebrations post with answers to many of your questions to me over the last few days waiting in the wings. Tomorrow, OK?)

I'm leaving for my trip to New York in a few days. (My mom and I are going together -- it's my 30th birthday present/her "I've been someone's mother for 30 years?!?" present.) One of these bags is coming with me, to carry my camera around in while we're there, and as a carry-on for the plane.

But, I can't make a final decision about the fabric. I was originally planning to go with this fabric, from Joelle Hoverson's new Cake Rock Beach line:

dilemma: 2

(Which I love.)

But then I started thinking, this is kind of monochromatic (which might be a good thing...), maybe I want something more bright and springy? So I pulled out this Denyse Schmidt Katie Jump Rope floral, and the green and white dot (which is from Bee's Knees by Glenna Hailey):

dilemma: 1

So, what do you think? (Either way, it's going with that charcoal gray -- which I know looks black, but it isn't -- corduroy, shown behind the prints.)

I'm making the bag tonight, so be quick with your votes!

(PS: I bought all this fabric, except for the corduroy, from Sew Mama Sew.)

My two cents:
While I gravitate towards the brighter, springier colors, my vote is for the first selection for your mom. It seems more sophisticated and assembled - and perhaps will get more use that way.

Oops. I guess I thought the bag was for your mom. Well, my vote is the same either way!

My vote is also for the cake rock beach, but that may be because I want that fabric sooo bad to make pillows for my couch :)

cake rock beach. hands down.

I vote Katie Jump Rope.
Have a fantastic trip!!

totally cake rock beach!

I say Cake Rock Beach ... I haven't seen nearly enough stuff made with it yet online, and it's gorgeous. Make sure you post pictures!

Oh yes, cake rock beach - wonderful fabric!

as cool as that blue stuff is - i have to vote the brighter colors! have fun!

Blue and white! Always blue and white.

Though I *really* love the Denyse Schmidt fabric, I think the blue and white looks really nice with the gray corduroy.

I like the Cake Rock Beach with the gray. What do you and your mom plan to do on your trip (you know we want details!!!)? Hope you have a great time!!!

Cake Rock Beach. I love that.

I am surprised by my vote, but it is for the first option also.

I'm from NY. I would go with the top fabric -- the blue circles. looks interesting at the same time, sophisticated. Have fun in NY!

I'd go with the cake rock, I think the simpler the colors are on your bag, the more exciting colors you can wear! hahah! Don't let the bag hog all of the excitement! :)
Have fun in NY!!

my vote would be for cake rock beach - very stylish & sophisticated for NY.. enjoy the trip!

I vote for the brighter colors. Looks like I'm in the minority though ;-)

What a great bag, tell me (either now or when you finish it), do you think it is something someone with minimal sewing experience could do? I really like it a lot!

I love the second set with the green polka dots. Very cute.

Have fun on the trip! I like 'em both - sorry not much help.

I vote for Cake Rock Beach (NYC is all about the monochromatic)... I can't wait to see the finished product!

I am likely too late but I vote the second choice. I love the green. Would be good with the shoes.

Katie Jump Rope--It is fun, bright and perfect for New York City! Have a great trip!

I like the brighter colors, they are springy and fun!

can't wait to see what you chose! and new york? hope you have loads of fun with your mom. love the idea of the celebratory trip.

you'd look so hip walking into purl patchwork with you cake rock beach bag. just saying.

The brighter colours definitely. Polly x x x

I love them both -- how about two bags??!!
hee hee
Have a great time in New York!!

I lean towards Cake Rock Beach, too. So lovely!

blue and white, i like so much....

I like the cake rock beach....it's beautiful!

By now you're in New York and I hope you are having a blast. I love that first selection of fabrics. Will look forward to reading about your trip.

I wonder which you chose! I love the green and white polkadots personally, but they are all lovely fabrics.

I have just discovered your blog, and your photos are amazing. But, oh my, those dolls you make are just so beautiful, their faces, their hair, just perfect. Do you take commissions for them? I would love love love to buy one, there is really nothing like them here in the UK.

Everything on here is so inspirational, it is going to take me a while to browse through!
